Introduction

The premise here is that science is not something to be avoided because of Christian beliefs, but something to be viewed as the work of God in our world. Science and the Bible are not separate entities but are closely linked, because the same God is the Author of Scripture and the Creator of the world in which we live. This we know by faith in what God has revealed to us. Science cannot prove or disprove the existence of God because science deals only with the finite, material world. God has said, "As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts." (Isaiah 55:9 NIV)

At this site you will find science discovery activities and devotionals to assist you in guiding children into a greater understanding of the natural world and our Creator God. The Bible is not meant to be a scientific textbook, but it describes observations about the physical world that God has created and continues to control today. God created human beings with intelligence, curiosity, and creativity -- all tools useful in investigating the world of nature and science.

Four areas of study are presented on the pages of this website;  Life Sciences, Earth Sciences, Physical Sciences, and the Environmental Sciences.

Each page contains a description of an activity as well as a devotional. Either the devotional or activity can be used as the starting point for instruction. Frequently, creative ideas are included with the devotional, providing a time of quiet activity when the devotional can be discussed. The science activity is open-ended in nature. It may be adapted to many age levels depending on the depth of investigation. Just as in the method used by scientists, questions to be answered by observation and experimentation are at the heart of each activity. Some suggestions on how to find the answers are also included as starting points, but should not limit your investigation. "Going Further" questions are included for more advanced students and could be a starting point for a science fair project.

Science, by its very nature, is a process of discovery where the answer to one question frequently leads to another question. And the discoveries which you make will reveal more about the magnificent and complex world which God has made and inspire the heartfelt praise of His glory. To begin your exploration, simply click on one of the study areas in the menu list.  And return often as new activities will be added. Be sure to check out the resources page for suggested supplies.
